Hello all this is the account of the preaching done on Saturday May 26th, 2007:
I bused down to gore park. I saw a man from Living Hope Christian Assembly(a heresy-filled charasmatic church). He asked me if I was going to their Saturday night church service. I told him no, but rather that I was going to preach here instead and that I no longer attended Living Hope. He asked me why and I told him about some of the false teachings that they adhere to. I opened up my Bible to 1 Corinthians 13 and took him through these Scriptures:
1 Corinthians 13:8-10
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
That which is perfect to come was the complete Word of God. Since we now have the Word, there is no longer a need for tongues and prophecying of the future.
He seemed quite intrigued about what I said. He told me about a "church" he went to where he used to live; how they said that a person needed to speak in tongues to get to heaven. Oh what accountability those false teachers will give for basing their supposed Bible teachings on opinion rather than the Bible!
I gave this man my phone number, email address and website url. He gave me his phone number. (I won't put his name in case the people from Living Hope read this and try to prevent my Biblical influence) Nonethless please pray for this man, that he could come out and be seperate from the unsound doctrine taught at Living Hope.
2 Corinthians 6:17
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
After I had finished talking with this man I went to go preach. I would say there were 20-25 hearers. For the most part they did not seem to be listening intently. One man raised his arms, I suppose to make a mockery of crying out to God. I told the sinners of their crimes against God. I warned them of the lake of fire. I told them of the great importance of eternity. I spoke of all these things to point to Jesus Christ. As I critiqued my preaching afterwards I realized that I had failed to preach the burial and resurrection.(for I had only preached the death of Christ) Oh that the Lord would give me grace regarding organization and memory in preaching.
1 Cor 15:1-4, 17
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
17And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins
Technically if the death, burial and resurrection is not preached then the gospel has not been preached. Verse 17 shows the importance of preaching the resurrection.
After I had preached I gave the hearers tracts, a large amount of them refused. I suppose only 10 total were given out this night. One person who I suppose heard my preaching from the crowd came up purposely, showing a desire to receive a tract and only after receiving it ripped it up. Oh that God would have mercy on this man's hardened soul!
I pondered about how I desired to weep as I preached. Oh that I could speak with more genuine passion! I do not want these hardened, sinful monsters to leave content! I want them to be angry or be converted! How sad it is that for the most part the lost are content to be on the road to hell in their sins. They love their sins more than their own souls! How great is a move of God needed! Please pray for the hearers and the receivers of the tracts! Revival is so desperately needed. Jesus Christ deserves those for whom He died!
After the preaching I went to the other side of gore park and sat down. There was a homeless man(at least appeared to be homeless, who had heard at least some of the preaching) that kept walking by. Eventually I asked him if he was hungry. He immediately stopped and almost with great shock and pleasure turned to me and told me he was. I took him to Subway and bought him a sub. He refused to take a tract. His name is Thomas. Please pray for his lost soul.
With the rest of my change I bought a man named Paul a mountain dew.(I do not endorse pop of any kind, so now as I write this I am contemplating whether it was well for me to buy him such an unhealthly drink; I could have bought him an orange juice instead)Paul did appear to be homeless as well and I told him of a temp. job agency at which he could apply for work. For both these men seemed to have no plans of any sort with their spare time. Paul did take a tract. Please pray for him.
After this I went home.
This place I preach seems very spirtually desolate. Most of the women are scantily dressed, which according to the Bible, they are naked. The showing of the thigh and cleavage is nakedness.
Exo 28:42
And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:
Isa 47:2,3
2Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers.
3Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.
Ezek 16:7
7I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou wast naked and bare.
I was weary to go preaching this night. For I had not such a well week. I could have prayed more and obeyed more. I thought on whether I should go preaching or not because of my great failures and such.
Phil 1:15-18
15Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
16The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
17But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
18What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
Paul rejoiced no matter of what intention the gospel was preached. I have heard of a story of a heathen who began to "preach" after a street preacher had just finished preaching. He mimicked the preacher to mock him. A man came up to that street preacher as a result of this mockers preaching, to tell the preacher that after hearing this mocker he saw his need to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
There is no excuse for not praying without ceasing. There is no excuse for not living in holiness. There is no excuse for preaching with improper motivations. Nevertheless as long as God's Word is preached then He will use it.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.
Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
How much more will the Lord be able to move if God's Word is preached and that preacher is living in holiness and in constant prayer! Please pray for me that I could go to the Lord more in prayer, that I could live in holiness and obedience.
Reader what excuse then do you have? Do not say you are not holy enough or strong enough or bold enough. For what day will come when you are enough? Will that day ever come? Last time I checked it was the power of God unto salvation, not your power! Preach the gospel my friend. Take a step of faith! You can study it, pray about it, think about it and talk about it all you want, but until you obey and preach the gospel you are doing nothing! Faith without works is dead!
